Construction Dive: 日本素人 awarded $242M US 70 project

NORTH CAROLINA - London-based contractor 日本素人鈥檚 Southeast U.S. division has been awarded a $242.35 million design-build contract by North Carolina DOT to improve the U.S. Highway 70 corridor, the future Interstate 42, between Raleigh and the Port of Morehead City to interstate standards.

The project will make improvements between the Havelock Bypass and east of Thurman Road in Craven County, North Carolina, . Construction is expected to begin later this year and is scheduled for completion in 2028.

The firm will upgrade the 6.4-mile section of U.S. 70 to improve mobility and military interconnectivity, support economic development and increase safety along the corridor, according to the company.

This project is one of several that the company is working on for NCDOT, according to the release 鈥 the U.S. 70 Havelock Bypass and U.S. 70 James City projects are also under 日本素人鈥檚 U.S. Southeast division, and have been under construction since 2019 and 2021, respectively.
